Updates - Annual Events - Porthcawl - Outside Porthcawl

Kenfig Hill

Kenfig Hill lies adjacent Pyle about 3.5 miles from Porthcawl.  In addition to the facilities of Pyle Kenfig Hill has its own centre with a range of shops and medical facilities.

Pyle

Pyle lies two miles north of Porthcawl and has excellent access to the M4 motorway at both junctions 37 and 38.  It also enjoys good communications with Swansea, Bridgend, Cardiff and beyond through it bus and train links.

The parish church of Pyle is said to be built from stones from the ancient borough and is at times referred to as ‘ the upside down church’ as the stones of its walls are, unusually,  larger towards the top suggesting that it was built from an earlier construction with the smaller stones being removed from the initial construction and placed at the base of the current Church.

Pyle has a major supermarket together with a range of other shops, petrol stations and a leisure centre and swimming pool.  A two minute drive from Pyle is Margam Estate as are two golf courses and a driving range.  Country walks are available in all directions.

South Cornelly

South Cornelly lies just 1.5 miles outside Porthcawl and has primarily modern housing.  There is a popular public house, a great Indian restaurant and a garage.  For those struggling with the cost of fuel there is a regular bus service.

North Cornelly

North Cornelly lies just over the motorway from Porthcawl and abuts Pyle to the west.  It has a range of pubs and shops and offers great access to the countryside.

Housing ranges from older period property to both established and modern estates with a full range of styles and types.
